How To Acutally Become a Morning Person

We’ve all heard that the early bird gets the worm. Studies have actually shown that early risers tend to be happier people in general. Still, sometimes our warm and cozy nest feels impossible to leave, even if we know all of the benefits we are apparently missing out on. Trust us, we know. Does hitting snooze, on the alarm clock, multiple times sound familiar?  Here’s how to wake up most mornings feeling refreshed and ready to start the day and make most of longer days!

Start Slow and Small
Like most life changes, going zero to 100 isn’t always the most sustainable way to switch things up for good. All of a sudden waking up earlier is going to be not only physically exhausting, but mentally too. Waking up early shouldn’t feel taxing or like a chore. If it does, it won’t last. Instead, make slow and small changes. Wake up 10 minutes earlier, then 25, then 40. Work your way up to your goal. And as you wake earlier, try to rest earlier. Slow and steady, baby!

Let There Be Light
Hear me out - try to sleep with your curtains open. Rise with the sun. Wake up when the rest of your world is too. (Plus, it’s really hard to stay asleep when it’s bright!) But if you need the blinds shut for some shut eye, try a wake up light. A 2017 study found that people with sunrise alarm clocks wake up better and feel more energized. ”Once that occurs, the quality and quantity of your sleep will begin to improve.” Actually rise and shine!

Wake Up Your Skin
Waking up your skin in the morning is important because it gives your complexion a daily reset to arm itself for the entire day! Moving fluid through your lymphatic pathways and increasing your circulation is the key:

  • Try applying your products with cold hands-for a gentle cooling and circulation boost. Our refreshing and revitalizing Luminous Brightening Elixir will wake up your skin and senses too!
  • Refrigerate your moisturizer-for a refreshing skincare treat! Plus, the fridge adds an extra de-puffing and cooling effect to help reduce inflammation and redness.
  • An ice cube massage is one of our favorites! Wrap an ice cube in a wet face cloth and gently rub all over your face. Again, this helps to eliminate inflammation and it’ll certainly wake you up! Please remember not to apply ice directly to the skin. A barrier between the ice cube and your skin is essential.
Create Excitement
There has to be a reason to get out of bed. And not just the fact that you can. When you’re bundled up in bed, there has to be something so fun, so exciting, that you can’t wait to wake up and start your day. Find that something. And if you can’t find it, create it. Look up a recipe for avocado toast that sounds absolutely delicious. Make your own cold brew. Try new ways to move your body with joy, from gentle yoga to dance-based cardio. Journal. Doodle. Paint. Read. Stretch. Sing. Go for a walk. Catch the sunrise. Practice deep breathing or meditation. Call someone you love (who is also up). Rearrange your plants. Try out an instrument. Anything.
